School Overview
Lancaster Primary School is a small school located 8 kilometres east of Kyabram. The school is set in a pleasant rural setting within a dairy farming and horticultural area. As the school was established in 1876, many of the families have historical links with the school. The school community strenuously seeks to maintain the traditions of the school and actively promotes the school in order to ensure the future of Lancaster Primary School. The school is acutely aware that it plays an important role in the education of its’ students, and it also recognises that parents and the community play an equally important role. Parent participation is encouraged through an active and inclusive School Council, a fundraising committee, working bees, family nights, parent participation days and extended curriculum activities. The School Council has an active membership of 12. Each year our school community has the opportunity to participate in a family excursion. In 2010 our families went to the Moama On Murray Waterpark and in 2011 our families went to the Whittlesea Funfields Adventure Park..
The school currently has an enrolment of 40 students attending Lancaster Primary School, encompassing 30 families. Currently we run 2 classrooms (P/1/2 and 3/45/6) with 20 students per classroom. Staffing composes of a teaching principal, 2 full time teaching staff, 2 part time staff (2 days each) and 3 classroom assistants. The school provides a variety of extra curricular activities for students and the wider community, including the Active After School Program, Playgroup, visits to Warrumunda Aged Care and the Pat Hayes Centre. Apart form Literacy and Numeracy as the main curriculum focus, we also provide a variety of other key learning areas such as music, drama, art, library, science and physical education. We have a comprehensive transition program from Kinder to Prep, and Grade 6 to Year 7.
In 2011 the school underwent the Self Assessment and Review process, and developed a new four year Strategic Plan.
